Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), a virus closely related to the SARS virus. The disease is the cause of the COVID-19 pandemic. People who get the disease might get fever, dry cough, fatigue (tiredness), loss of taste or smell, and shortness of breath. A sore throat, runny nose, or sneezing is less common. In some cases, people might wheeze, have difficulty breathing, have fewer white blood cells, or not be hungry. In severe cases, COVID-19 can kill people. COVID-19 has killed more than six million people around the world.
